"It has to start from within"

Hello dear friends,

I hope you all had a good start into 2013! Even if I don’t have any New Year’s resolutions, I will remain loyal to my wisdoms of life:

Be grateful for Every Day.
Spend many happy Moments & make Memories unforgettable.
Keep Smiling.

There are so many people out there, who are going through ups and downs, who are surrounded by fear, uncertainty, doubt, joy, happiness, contentment… – and so am I. Life isn’t easy. I see it as an exciting challenge. An opportunity. But I cannot stand up to the challenge unless I start with myself. Be happy with yourself. Love yourself. Trust yourself and you can achieve your dreams and goals. Believe in yourself.

After struggling through blogs, feeds and youtube subscriptions I found an awesome video from Michelle Phan, which I would like to share with you:

 

My wish for the New Year is simple…
to have a fresh new start.
But if I want a new beginning, it has to start from within.
I’m not a perfect person… In fact, I’m a perfectly imperfect person.
Being perfect is not something I seek… because it’s not possible.
But do you know what is?
Becoming a better person.
That’s something we can all do
Becoming a better person that I was yesterday…
is a beautiful promise I can make to myself.
I promise to be Kind
to be Caring
to be Helpful
to be Respectful and to have Self respect
to be Generous and Giving
to be Sincere and Selfless
to be Forgiving and Accepting
to be Humble and Honest
to be Courageous and Loyal
to have more Faith in myself and others
to be more Confident and Brave
but the most important of all…
I promise to find light in every darkness
and when it feels hopeless, I will tell myself to try one more time…
and have faith.
My Mother would always tell me this Vietnamese saying that goes…
Gần mực thì đen, gần đèn thì sang
It means… if you’re close to ink, you’ll be in darkness.
if you’re close to light, you’ll shine bright.
I promise myself to no longer live in darkness
but surround myself with light.
Only then can I truly shine bright.
like stars…
whenever you look up at the night sky to see the stars…
it takes millions of years for their light to reach us…
So what we end up seeing are memories from the past.
But it doesn’t matter, because all we care about is what’s right in front of us…
a beautiful shining star.
not the past
but the present
a gift.
the past is behind… only look back to learn from it
and when you’re ready, let’s all move forward towards the light…
lighting up the night like stars so that we can help others find their way in darkness
My New Year’s wish?
is to have a new beginning with all of you…
and for all of us to surround ourselves with light
so we can all shine bright.
